CBS Renews Entire Daytime Shows, Sets ‘Extant’ and ‘Under the Dome’ Premiere Dates

CBS have renewed its entire daytime schedule for the 2014-2015 season, the TV network announced at TCA.

“The Talk,” “Let’s Make a Deal,” “The Price is Right,” “The Young and the Restless,” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” will all return for another year.

“The return of all five of our CBS Daytime shows is a credit to the collaborative spirit of the casts, crews and staff who work tirelessly to make their creative vision come to life,” said Angelica McDaniel, Senior Vice President, CBS Daytime. “A special thank you goes out to our loyal fans for watching and for making us #1 in daytime.”

More CBS news, summer series “Extant,” starring Halle Berry, will premiere Wednesday, July 2, at 9/8c. Last summer hit series “Under the Dome’s” second season will debut Monday, June 30 at 10/9c, with the opening episode featuring two major deaths.

“The Amazing Race” premiere date have also been announced. The reality series will bow Feb. 23 and the new season of “Survivor” will premiere Feb. 26 with a two-hour debut.



CBS Picks Up ‘Extant,’ ‘Homeland’ Season 3 Trailer Revealed And More!

CBS has picked up a new serialized drama, “Extant” from Steven Spielberg. The 13-episode season is expected to debut next summer. [EW]

“Sharknado 2: The Second One” is the title of the “Sharknado” sequel.

The fourth season of “Shameless” will return on Jan. 12 at 9 p.m., followed by “House of Lies” at 10, while “Episodes” starring Matt LeBlanc returns at 10:30 p.m.

Jay Leno’s final episode of “The Tonight Show” to air on Feb. 6. [TVLine]

Starz cancels “Magic City” after two seasons.

“Awkward” has been picked up for a fourth season, which is set to debut in 2014.

A&E picks up “Bates Motel” for a second season. [EW]

Kathy Griffin’s talk show “Kathy,”  has been cancelled by Bravo after two seasons. [TVLine]

“Arrested Development’s” fifth season is set to air on May 26 on Netflix. [TVLine]

HBO picks up “Game of Thrones” for a fourth season. [EW]

BET renews “The Game” for a seventh season, which is expected to premiere in early 2014.

’24’ Alum Joins ‘Revolution’ And More Casting News

Revolution Casting News: Annie Wersching

Annie Werching is joining the “Revolution.”

According to TVLine, Annie Wersching, who played FBI agent Renee Walker on “24,” has been booked to  guest-star on NBC’s “Revolution.”  Wersching will play Emma, “who was Miles Matheson’s first love, and the first object of Sebastian Monroe’s obsession.”

Wersching is set to appear in the freshman drama’s Episode 15.

“Revolution” continues on March 25.

Brooke Shields will recur on “Army Wives.” The recurring guest star will play Col. Katherine “Kat” Young, a crack C-17 pilot who finds herself at odds with Army General Michael Holden, played by Brian McNamara.

“HawthoRNe”  vet Collins Pennie will play Emily Throne’s aka Amanda’s foster-brother, Eli on “Revenge.” Pennie, who has been cast in a recurring role will make his debut in a spring episode. [TVLine]

“Game of Thrones” casts a Bear. Literally. The drama series has booked “Bart the Bear” for scenes in the upcoming season. Selected actors will fly to Los Angeles to film with their new cast mate. [EW]

Jolene Purdy and Nicholas Strong are going “Under The Dome.” The ‘Glee” actress Purdy will play Dodee, a brilliant, eccentric engineer at the local radio station who will draw on her unique skills to make contact with the world outside the dome. Meanwhile, Nicholas Strong, who plays JT on “Nashville,” will portray Phil, a popular radio DJ and indie rock fanatic who is described as “a charismatic figure with a dark secret.” [TVLine]

Maria Bello Leaving ‘Touch’ And More Casting News

Maria Bello is leaving Fox’s “Touch.”

Bello, who was upped as a series regular last season is reportedly leaving the series, according to TVLine. The “Prime Suspect” actress departure was reportedly a mutual decision between the actress and the “Touch” producers.

“Touch” returns on Feb. 8 with a two-hour Season 2 premiere at 8/7c.

George Takei is joining “The Neighbors” as an alien. The “Star Trek” actor will play Larry Bird’s father, who comes to earth with “a big announcement.” [THR].

Chris Caldovino is set to return to “Boardwalk Empire” in a recurring role as Tonino Sandrelli. [NY Post]

“1600 Penn” actor Benjamin Stockham will appear on “Once Upon a Time.” Stockham will portray Owen, a young boy in the 17th episode of the ABC drama series. [THR]

Cassidy Freeman has been tapped to appear on “Once Upon A Time.” The “Smallville” actress will play Jack in a “Jack And The Beanstalk” storyline. [TVLine]

Natalie Martinez and Alex Koch have heading “Under The Dome.” Martinez has been cast as an ambitious Deputy Linda, while Koch will play Junior Rennie, the son of a local politician on the CBS series. [THR]

Maggie Smith Returns To ‘Downton Abbey’ And More Casting News

The Dowager Countess will be back for another season at least.

According to TVLine, Sunday’s Golden Globe winner for Best Actress in a TV Drama Series Maggie Smith will return to “Downton Abbey” for season 4.

“Downton Abbey” airs Sundays, 9 p.m. EST on PBS.

“Friday Night Lights” vet Jurnee Smollett has been cast to appear on “Do No Harm.” Smollett will appear in three episode-arc of the drama as Phylicia Rashad’s character’s daughter. [TVLine]

Scott Foley is heading to “Scandal” for a guest star role. However, details surrounding his role are being kept under warps. Foley is expected to appear in a major arc in the series. [TVLine]

“Under the Dome” has cast Colin Ford as its first series regular. Ford will play Joe, a teen who lives in the small town that gets placed under the dome in the new CBS series based on Stephen King’s book. [THR]

“Private Practice’s” alumna Audra McDonald  has booked a guest role on “The Good Wife.” McDonald will play Alicia’s enemy from their Georgetown Law School days. McDonald is only slated for one episode at the moment, but will possibly have an arc. [THR]

CBS Summer Schedule Revealed: ‘Big Brother’ Debuts Early, ‘Under The Dome’ & ‘Unforgettable’ Premiere Dates Announced

Cbs unveiled its summer schedule today at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.

The highly anticipated drama “Under the Dome,” premiere date and the resurrected series “Unforgettable” season two premiere date have been announced.

“Under the Dome,” a 13-episode, drama series based on Stephen King’s best-seller will debut on Monday, June 24, at 10/9c. “Under the Dome” follows a small town that is inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by a transparent dome, and subsequently subject to post-apocalyptic conditions, while searching for answers to what this barrier is, where it came from and if and when it will go away.

Summer’s guilty pleasure, “Big Brother” season 15 will be expanded this year. The series will launch two weeks earlier than its usual time on Wednesday, June 26, at 9/8c pm. BB15 will air Tuesdays at 9/8c beginning July 2, live eviction airs Wednesdays at 9/8c beginning July 3, and Sundays at 8/7c.

Meanwhile, Poppy Montgomery’s “Unforgettable” will return for its second season on Sunday, July 28, at 9 pm.

‘Army Wives’ Books Torrey DeVitto, Ashanti, As Series Regulars, ’30 Rock’ Series Finale Air date Announced And More

Army Wives Adds 3 New Faces

“Army Wives” is adding three new faces to the base. Torrey DeVitto , Ashanti, and Elle McLemore have been cast as series regulars on the drama series.

According to Deadline.com, “Vampire Diaries” star Torrey DeVitto will play Maggie Hall, a sexy and smart Ex-Army Airborne, who is married to a Staff Sergeant with a teen daughter.

R&B singer Ashanti joins the series as Latasha Durant, a sexy, fun mother of three, while McLemone has been tapped to portray Holly Gordon, a lonely and homesick newly wed.

Production of the upcoming season is set to begin in mid-December.
