Stephen Moyer Joins NBC’s ‘Sound of Music’ And More Casting News

“True Blood” star is Captain Von Trapp.

Stephen Moyer, who plays Bill on HBO’s “True Blood” has been cast to portray Capt. Von Trapp on NBC’s Sound of Music Special. Moyer will play war vet and single dad Capt. Von Trapp opposite Carrie Underwood’s Maria in the Special.

The three-hour production will be based on the original 1959 Broadway production.

NBC’s Sound of Music is scheduled for Dec. 5.

Wendy Williams is making new neighbors. The Daytime host will guest-star as a hair stylist in an upcoming episode of “The Neighbors.” [TVLine]

Navid Negahban has been cast to play Oliver Queen’s foe on “Arrow.” The “Homeland” alum will play Al-Owal in Episode 5 of the forthcoming season. [E! Online]

Phoebe Strole will play Sam’s new love interest, who is a college sophomore called Penny Owen on the Fox’s “Glee” in a recurring role. In addition, Demi Lovato has been cast to play a NYC-based struggling artist friend of Rachel and Santana’s who will regularly appear with Adam Lambert’s incoming character. [TVLine]

ABC Fall Premiere Dates Revealed: ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 10 to Debut with Two-Hour Premiere

ABC fall premiere dates were announced Tuesday.

“Grey’s Anatomy” season ten will debut with a two-hour premiere on Thurs. Sept. 26, while “Scandal” returns Oct. 3. Meanwhile, new series “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “The Goldbergs,” “Trophy Wife,” and “Lucky 7” all premiere on Tues., Sept. 24.

Maria Bello Leaving ‘Touch’ And More Casting News

Maria Bello is leaving Fox’s “Touch.”

Bello, who was upped as a series regular last season is reportedly leaving the series, according to TVLine. The “Prime Suspect” actress departure was reportedly a mutual decision between the actress and the “Touch” producers.

“Touch” returns on Feb. 8 with a two-hour Season 2 premiere at 8/7c.

George Takei is joining “The Neighbors” as an alien. The “Star Trek” actor will play Larry Bird’s father, who comes to earth with “a big announcement.” [THR].

Chris Caldovino is set to return to “Boardwalk Empire” in a recurring role as Tonino Sandrelli. [NY Post]

“1600 Penn” actor Benjamin Stockham will appear on “Once Upon a Time.” Stockham will portray Owen, a young boy in the 17th episode of the ABC drama series. [THR]

Cassidy Freeman has been tapped to appear on “Once Upon A Time.” The “Smallville” actress will play Jack in a “Jack And The Beanstalk” storyline. [TVLine]

Natalie Martinez and Alex Koch have heading “Under The Dome.” Martinez has been cast as an ambitious Deputy Linda, while Koch will play Junior Rennie, the son of a local politician on the CBS series. [THR]

Betsy Brandt Joins Michael J. Fox’s Series And More Casting News

Betsy Brandt is heading to NBC’s new sitcom.

According to THR, the “Breaking Bad” actress has joined Michael J. Fox’s untitled new NBC sitcom as Fox character’s wife Annie. Annie is described as being “tough yet loyal with a goofy side.”

Brandt joins previously cast: Katie Finneran (“I Hate My Teenage Daughter”) will play Fox’s sister on the show, Wendell Pierce (“Treme”) will play Fox’s boss and Conor Romero (“Person of Interest”) will play his college drop-out son.

NBC has ordered 22 episodes of the comedy series, which is expected to debut this fall.

More casting news…

Rosemarie DeWitt is leaving “The Newsroom.” The “United States of Tara” actress is leaving the show due to scheduling conflicts after shooting only a couple of episodes for the series second season. DeWitt, who was cast as Rebecca Halliday, will be replaced by another actress.

There is a mini Huxtable reunion taking place at NBC. Keshia Knight Pulliam has been cast to guest star on “Guys With Kids” as Bridget, Marny’s (Tempestt Bledsoe) sister. Bridget is described as a fun, irresponsible woman who visits her sister after a bad breakup. The casting will reunite the TV sisters. [TV Guide]

“Melrose Place” alum Heather Locklear is joining the TNT drama “Franklin & Bash” as a series regular. The TV veteran will play Rachel King, “a stunning trial lawyer, with stiletto heels and clothes tailored within an inch of their life.”

Bethenny Frankel is stopping by “The Neighbors.” The “Real Housewives” alumna will guest star in an upcoming episode of the comedy series as a businesswoman who works to help launch Debbie Weaver’s (Jami Gertz) handbag business. [EW]

Liza Minnelli to Appear on ‘Smash’ And More Casting News

Liza Minnelli has been tapped to guest star on “Smash,” Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment, announced Tuesday.

The icon will guest-star as herself  in the upcoming season of “Smash.” Minnelli will an original song with series regular Christian Borle.

“Liza Minnelli is the essence of a multi-talented, singular show business sensation, particularly for her extraordinary contributions to Broadway,” said Greenblatt. “So what could be more fitting than to have her legendary talent on a show that celebrates a world Liza has dazzled for decades? I had the pleasure of working with Liza when we restored her landmark television special ‘Liza With a Z’ at Showtime, and to see her artistry up close and personal is a thing to behold.”

Minnelli will appear in the episode titled “The Surprise Party,” which is slated to air in Spring 2013.

“Smash” season 2 premieres on Tuesday, February 5 at 10/9c on NBC.

“Fringe’s” Seth Gabel will play a “super-villain modeled after the DC Comics character Vertigo.” The site reports Gabel’s character is “Oliver’s deadliest adversary to date.” [TVLine]

New Kid Joey McIntyre has booked a guest star role on “90210.” McIntyre will guest star as an up-and-coming music manager who has some business with Dixon. [EW]

Michael Bay is stopping by “The Neighbors” as himself on the ABC’s freshman comedy series. [TVLine]

Terrell Owens is guest star as himself on “90210.” [TVLine]

Shirley Jones has been booked to appear on “Cougar Town.” “The Partridge Family” veteran will play Anne, an elderly woman who purchases Grayson’s old house. [TVLine]

English Actor Rob Kazinsky has been as a series regular on “True Blood.” The “EastEnders” alum will play a faerie, and  Sookie’s love interest. [TVLine]

‘Neighbors’ And ‘Scandal’ Receive Full Seasons

Scandal and The Neighbors get full seasons

Freshman comedy “The Neighbors” and returning drama “Scandal” have been picked up for full seasons.

The ABC’s alien comedy has averaged 6.8 million viewers and 2.0 in the demo ratings. Meanwhile, “Scandal” is averaging 8.1 million viewers and a 2.5 in adults 18-49.

This will mark Shonda Rhimes‘ “Scandal” first full 22-epiosde season.

ABC’s 2012-2013 Primetime Schedule: ‘Revenge’ Moves To ‘Desperate Housewives,’ Time Slot And More.

Sundays just got hotter! ABC released it upcoming 2012-2013 schedule earlier today. The news? ‘Revenge’ is heading to Sundays, while ‘Happy Endings’ and ‘Apartment 23’ are moving to Tuesdays.

“Revenge” will replace “Desperate Housewives” on Sundays starting this fall. Also moving to a new night is “Last Man Standing.” The renewed comedy will move to Friday starting November. While “Private Practice” remains on Tuesdays.

Also ABC is continuing its Thursday drama block with Shonda Rhimes’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal” and a intense new series “Last Resort.”

“How to Live with Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life),” “The Family Tools,” “The Bachelor,” “Body Of Proof,” “Wife Swap,” “Red Widow,” “Zero Hour,” and “Mistresses” will all premiere in midseason.
