FOX Fall TV Lineup: ‘Utopia’ Receives Three-Night Premiere


Fox unveils 2014 Fall lineup.

The network is kicking off its fall season with a three-night series premiere of reality series “Utopia.”

“Utopia” follows fifteen strangers as they leave their everyday lives and move to an isolated, undeveloped location – for an entire year – where they are challenged to create their own civilization from scratch.

Meanwhile, “Red Band Society” debuts Sep. 17, while “Gotham” premieres Mon., Sep. 22.

Matthew Atkinson Joins ‘Parenthood’ And More Casting News


“Parenthood” adds Matthew Atkinson for Season 5.

TVLine reports, Atkinson (“Jane By Design”) will appear in a multi-episode arc as Zach.

The character is described as “drummer in the band fronted by new arrival Oliver who bonds with Amber while recording at the Luncheonette.”

Atkinson will also play Amber’s love interest.

“Parenthood” season 5 premieres Thursday, Sept. 26 at 10/9c.

Damon Wayans Jr. Returns to ‘New Girl’ And More Casting News


Damon Wayans Jr. is returning to “New Girl.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wayans, Jr. will be reprising his role as Coach for at least four episodes in the upcoming third season of “New Girl.”

“Happy Endings” star originally appeared in the Fox comedy’s pilot episode, but was written off when “Happy Endings” received a second season pick up.

Robbie Kay joins “Once Upon A Time.” The “Pinocchio ” star will play one of Peter Pan’s Lost Boys. [TVLine]

James Franco will guest-star on the first two episodes of “The Mindy Project’s” upcoming season. Franco will play Dr. Paul Leotard, “a charismatic and popular doctor who replaces Mindy while she is in Haiti on a volunteer mission with her pastor boyfriend.” [EW]

Martin Donovan “Boss” and Shaun Taub “Iron Man” have joined “Homeland’s” upcoming season. Donovan will play Bennett, a partner at a DC law firm. Toub will recur as Majid Javadi, a Middle Eastern intelligence officer. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Fox Renews ‘The Following,’ ‘Mindy Project’ And Two Comedies Series

The Following, new girl, mindy project, and raising hope renewed

Fox announced Monday, new series “The Following” and “The Mindy Project” along with returning comedies “Raising Hope” and “New Girl” have been renewed for the network’s 2013-2014 lineup.

On “The Following” second season pick up, Chairman of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company, Kevin Reilly said, “From the very beginning, we felt Kevin Williamson and Marcos Siega had created a high-quality, edge-of-your-seat drama that could break from the pack, and it is exciting to see the audience responding. Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy have given us two of the most compelling characters on television and the entire cast is incredible. I’m delighted to have this thrill ride continue on FOX for another season.”

Comedies “Mindy Project” received a second season order, “New Girl” received a third season pick up and “Raising Hope” was renewed for a fourth season. These renewals follow drama series “Bones” ninth season pick up.

Matt Damon Heads to ‘House of Lies’ And More Casting News

Matt Damon is heading to “House of Lies.”

The Promise Land actor will play himself in an episode on the Showtime series, Showtime Entertainment president David Nevins announced Saturday at the TCA winter press tour.

Damon will seek the help of Marty (Cheadle) and his team in setting up a charitable organization to compete with George Clooney.

“House of Lies” season 2 premieres Sun. Jan., 13 on Showtime.

“All My Children” vet Jesse McCartney has been tapped to recur in the forthcoming season of “Army Wives.” McCartney has been cast to play Private Tim Truman, enthusiastic young soldier and husband to Elle McLemore’s Holly Truman. [THR]

‘Awkward’ Books Anthony Michael Hall & Nolan Funk And More Casting News

Awkward Anthony Michael Hall

“Awkward” adds “The Breakfast Club” and “Sixteen Candles” alum.

Anthony Michael Hall will appear on “Awkward’s” upcoming third season for a multi-episode arc. Hall will play Mr. Hart, “a sadistic creative writing teacher that pushes the students out of their comfort zones,” according to Entertainment Weekly.

Additionally, “Glee” newbie Nolan Funk will portray Collin James, a confident new prep school transfer to Palos Hills. Funk will appear in a multi-episode arc.

Seth Rogen has been tapped to appear on “The Mindy Project.” The Guilt Trip actor will play Sam, Mindy’s teenage love interest.

Rap artiste Rick Ross has been cast to play “Butterball,” in STARZ’s “Magic City.” “Butterball” is described as the proprietor of an illegal Cuban/American gambling house in Miami known as a “bolita.”

Adam Shapiro, who is Katie Lowes’ real life husband has been cast to appear on “Scandal.” Shapiro will play Lindsay’s doomed boyfriend Jesse, who was killed years ago by a bomb Lindsay was accused of mailing.  [TVLine]

Terry O’Quinn is set to return to “Hawaii Five-0” as the mysterious Joe White and “McG has a LOT of questions” for him. [Twitter]

FOX Winter Schedule: ‘Stars In Danger: The High Dive’ Debut Announced

Fox revealed its 2013 winter schedule Thursday.

The network programs will return Sun., Jan. 6 beginning with Animation Domination. New reality series “Stars In Danger: The High Dive” debuts with a two-hour premiere on Wed., Jan. 9 at 9/8c.

Returning series “Bones” will continue its ongoing season with a two-hour midseason premiere on Mon., Jan. 14 at 8/7c. While new thriller series “The Following” debuts the following Monday, Jan. 21.

‘Everwood’ Vet Heads to ‘Chicago Fire’ And More Casting News

“Everwood” alum Treat Williams is joining “Chicago Fire.”

According to TV Guide, Williams will play Benny Severide, the father of Lt. Severide (Taylor Kinney). Benny is described as a “tough guy who also used to work as a fireman.” Williams has been cast to appear in multiple episodes.

“Chicago Fire” airs Wednesdays on NBC.

Brooklyn Decker is heading to “New Girl.”

The supermodel/actress will guest star in an upcoming episode of “New Girl,” Entertainment Weekly reports.

The What to Expect When You’re Expecting actress has been booked to play Holly, a patron at Nick’s bar who is specifically attracted to the brokenhearted.

Decker will appear in the episode: “The Cooler,” which is scheduled to air early next year.

Chad Coleman is joining “The Walking Dead.”

“The Wire” alum, Chad Coleman will play Tyreese on the drama series, according to TVLine. In the comics Tyreese was Rick’s second in command following Shane’s death.

The site reports, Coleman is rumored to appear in the ongoing season’s eight episode.

“The Walking Dead” airs Sundays on AMC.
