‘New Girl’ Renewed for Season 5

new girl renewed Hey girrrllll!!! “New Girl” has been renewed for season 5.

Fox announced Tuesday, the comedy series starring Zooey Deschanel has been picked up for a fifth season.

“Four seasons in, “New Girl” continues to be one of the smartest and most relatable comedies on television,” said Fox entertainment president David Madden. “The writing is razor-sharp, the ensemble is consistently hilarious, and we couldn’t be more proud of… the entire New Girl team. We absolutely love this show and we’re so excited to bring it back for Season Five.”

“New Girl” returns tonight with original episodes.

FOX Fall TV Lineup: ‘Utopia’ Receives Three-Night Premiere

Fox unveils 2014 Fall lineup.

The network is kicking off its fall season with a three-night series premiere of reality series “Utopia.”

“Utopia” follows fifteen strangers as they leave their everyday lives and move to an isolated, undeveloped location – for an entire year – where they are challenged to create their own civilization from scratch.

Meanwhile, “Red Band Society” debuts Sep. 17, while “Gotham” premieres Mon., Sep. 22.

A&E suspends Phil Robertson, star of “Duck Dynasty” following anti-gay comments in GQ. [TV Guide]

“We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty, the network group said in a statement just now. ”His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.”

Connie Nielsen joins “The Following” as a series regular.

According to TVLine, the “Boss” alumna is set to play Lily Grey.

Grey is described as a SoHo art dealer who goes to Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) for help, which leads to more trouble for her.

“The Following” is set to air in 2014.

‘Bones’ Adds Mather Zickel & Freddie Prinze Jr. And More Casting News

Mather Zickel, “House of Lies” actor has joined “Bones'” forthcoming season. Zickel is joining the ninth season as Aldo Coulter, an ex-priest who has a history with Booth (David Boreanaz).

Aldo Coulter was Booth’s “ex-confessor when he was a sniper in the Rangers,” according to TVLine.

In addition, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” alum Freddie Prinze Jr. has been booked in a (potential) multi-episode arc opposite Booth. TVLine reports.

Prinze will play Danny, an armed and dangerous CIA covert agent, who is an old associate of Booth’s.

Damon Wayans Jr. is returning to “New Girl.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wayans, Jr. will be reprising his role as Coach for at least four episodes in the upcoming third season of “New Girl.”

“Happy Endings” star originally appeared in the Fox comedy’s pilot episode, but was written off when “Happy Endings” received a second season pick up.

ABC has renewed “Extreme Weight Loss” for a 13-episode fourth season.

Fred Armisen is indeed leaving “Saturday Night Live.” [Splitsider]

Jess is heading to Netflix. The online streaming company has landed the exclusive U.S. streaming rights to “New Girl.” Season 1 of the Fox comedy series will be made available this Monday, with subsequent seasons hitting the streaming site following their broadcast runs. [EW]

“American Idol” season 2 winner Ruben Studdard has joined the cast of the fifteen season of “The Biggest Loser.” The season debuts Tues., Oct. 8. [People]
