NBC renews “Days of Our Lives.” The Soap series has been renewed for two years — through Sept. 2016, NBC revealed Wednesday.
“”Days of Our Lives” continues to be a fan favorite for the daytime audience and we are thrilled to keep it going through its 50th season,” NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said in a statement. “Days has shown year-to-year increases in key female demographics and remains both relevant and fresh creatively due to the hard work of the producers, writers, cast and crew who have worked tirelessly to make Days the ratings success it is today.”
More “Days of Our Lives” news, Alison Sweeney, who has played Sami Brady for 21 years is leaving the daytime soap.
Sweeney announced her decision on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” saying: ”I’m celebrating my 21st year … and I decided that it’s going to be my last year with the show,” she says. “I have worked so much, and my daughter just turned 5 and my son is 9, and I just want to be with them.”
“The Biggest Loser” host is expected to leave the series at the end of the season.
