‘Gene Simmons Family Jewels’ Canceled by A&E

A&E has pulled the plug on its reality series, “Gene Simmons Family Jewels.”

The cable network said in a statement to THR “for seven great seasons, Gene, Shannon, Nick and Sophie have been part of the A&E family, and we could not be more proud of the unparalleled run of “Gene Simmons Family Jewels.” On behalf of everyone at A&E, we’d like to thank the production team at Thinkfactory Media, Gene and his amazing family for their partnership, collaboration and for opening up their lives, warts-and-all, to us throughout the years.”

The reality series followed Simmons, the Kiss bassist, Shannon Tweed and their two children.

The family added, “it has been a wonderful, life-altering experience for our family, and after seven successful seasons, we feel it’s time to move on.”

Abby Elliott Not Returning to ‘SNL’

“SNL” is losing another castmemeber.

Abby Elliott is leaving the comedy sketched series after four seasons, Splitsider reports. This news may shock fans, since Kristen Wiig and Andy Samberg have left the show. It has also been reported Jason Sudeikis may leave the series.

Elliott has been a featured player on the show since 2008, and was upgraded to full cast member in the fall of 2010. Elliott’s notable celebrity impressions includes Zooey Deschanel, Angelina Jolie, Rachael Maddow and Khloé Kardashian.

The 38th season of “SNL” is set to premiere September 15 on NBC.

As previously reported Kate Hudson will guest-star on the fourth season of “Glee.” Hudson will appear in six-episodes as Cassandra July, Rachel’s dance instructor at NYADA.

Yesterday, showrunner Ryan Murphy tweeted a photo of Hudson in action. Hudson’s character is described as “the anti-Will Schuester,” and a ” hard-ass.” Take a peek at the photo below.

‘Arrow’ Adds ‘Torchwood’ Star And More Casting News

Captain Jack is joining CW’s new series “Arrow.”

EW reports, John Barrowman has been cast in a recurring role for the comic book based drama. The “Torchwood” star will play a mysterious, wealthy, well-dressed man, who is “an acquaintance of the Queen family and a prominent figure in Starling City.”

“Arrow” is set to debut Wednesday, Oct. 10 on The CW.

In other casting news…

H. Jon Benjamin (Family Guy) will guest-star in “Suburgatory.” Benjamin will play Tabitha, Dallas’ life coach.  [TVLine]

Kathryn Erbe will reprise her “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” role on the upcoming season of “Law & Order: SVU” as a detective working for a joint City/Federal Homeland Security Task Force who crosses paths with the SVU squad.

John Slattery has been tapped to join “Arrested Development.” Information about his character is scare but the “Mad Men” star will appear in multiple episodes of the comedy series. [TVLine]

“GCB” star Miriam Shor will recur as a reporter on “The Good Wife.” It seems the “GCB” star will be replacing fellow “GCB” star Kristin Chenoweth on ‘The Good Wife.’  [TVLine]

“Saturday Night Live” vet Rachel Dratch will reunite with former castmate Maya Rudolph on season 2 of “Up All Night.” Dratch will play a superfan of Ava’s (Rudolph’s character) talk show. [THR]

Ayelet Zurer (Angels & Demons) will guest star on the upcoming season of “Touch.” Zurer will portray Rosemary Mathis, a gifted architect who had special talents from an early age. [TVLine]
