‘Step Up Revolution’ Actor Heads to ‘The Mindy Project’ & More Casting News

Fox’s most anticipated comedy “The Mindy Project” has cast Tommy Dewey and some NBA players.

According to TVLineStep Up Revolution actor Tommy Dewey will star as Mindy’s boyfriend, Josh Daniels. Daniels is described as a successful lawyer, who pursues things/people he likes.

Additionally EW reports, NBA Basketball players Amar’e Stoudemire, Baron Davis, and Danny Granger will guest-star as themselves on the upcoming comedy series.

“The Mindy Project” is set to premiere Sept. 25 at 9:30/8:30c on Fox.

Sheryl Lee Ralph has been cast to play Jennifer Hudson’s mum on ‘Smash’. [Vulture]

Eleven-time Olympic medalist, Ryan Lochte will guest-star as himself in the upcoming season of “90210.” [TVLine]

Bob Odenkirk (Breaking Bad) will reprise his role as Arthur Hobbs, Marshall’s boss  on “How I Met Your Mother.” [TVLine]

“CSI: Miami” alum, Emily Procter has been cast as the New York White Collar Division’s new head, Assistant Special Agent in Charge Amanda Callaway on “White Collar.” Procter is set to appear in two episodes. [TV Guide]

Lara Jean Chorostecki (Camelot) will play Freddie Lounds, a sleazy tabloid reporter on “Hannibal.” [TVLine]

Enrique Murciano (Without a Trace) and Wendy Moniz will appear in multi-episode arcs on “666 Park Avenue.”  Murciano will portray Dr. Todd Scott, a handsome young surgeon living at The Drake. Meanwhile, Moniz (Damages) will play Ingrid, Nona’s (Samantha Jade Logan) therapist. [TV Guide]

The drama will heat up in season 3. According to an interview with Huff Post TV, creator Terence Winter said, “We’re moving into 1923 when the Twenties really became the ‘Roaring Twenties.’ The economy began to boom and this became the Flapper Era. The parallels between then and now are obvious because that period mirrors the world we live in today. Prohibition, for instance, is the model for the illegal drug business; it’s what made millionaires out of gangsters. People were buying political favors, and big business controlled everything.”
